Frank Willets won the young researcher award for his work on BCI speech (cBCI). Their approach is different - they are detecting the thought of writing out each letter. Not only can this do this pretty quickly (writing around 65 wpm) they can even remodel the pen tip angular movement to show a kind of handwriting. Wild.
